Military Medal, George V, named to 301767 DVR: A. GILLESPIE 38/BY:CAN:F.A. – Arthur Gillespie, a drug clerk, enlisted at Winnipeg, Manitoba with the 38th Battery, 10th Field Artillery Brigade in November 1915.

He was awarded the Military Medal for his actions on November 11, 1917 - For courage, coolness and devotion to duty. "On the 11th of November 1917. Driver Gillespie was one of the signallers with the F.O.O. of the 39th Battery, C.F.A. When lamp could not be lined up with rear O.P., Driver Gillespie volunteered to take back a message to the Battery. He also was able to line up the lamp of the rear O.P., establishing communication with the Forward O.P. He returned to the Forward O.P. and remained there the whole night on duty. This was done in the dark and under the heaviest shell fire".

He was S.O.S. to the R.A.F. as a Flight Cadet on November 19th, 1918. Comes with electronic CEF service file, MM MIC and some research. Entitled to BWM/VM pair issued by RAF.
