L.G. issue 30172 (9th July 1917) : "For conspicuous bravery and distinguished conduct. On the 9th April 1917, in the LABYRINTHE SECTOR, while waiting for the barrage to lift off the first objective he assembled his men and used the time at his disposal to dress and care for the wounded. His section was among the first to reach the second objective and was exceptionally well organised although it has suffered several casualties. His work was of the highest order.".
