WW2 Africa Star Named Group of (4) Medals to Walter, T.S.C. and 4th S.A. Armoured Car Company

Four, all named to :  125930 F. WALTER

1939/45 Star; Africa Star; War and Africa Service medals.

Photocopies of his record of service shows that he attested 07/6/40 in the 4th A.C.C. (Armoured Car Company) 28/7/40 Promoted to A. Corpl.  Transferred to T.S.C. 10/9/44.  Discharged 20/4/45.  Hard to tell his initial unit but must be Technical Service Corps so imagine his unit supported the Armoured Cars. There is an official document that states the Chief of the General Staff expresses his deep regret that the late F. Walter did not live to receive the enclosed awards.

According to Volume One of The British Armies in World War Two - An Organizational History, by David Hughes, James Broshot, and Alan Philson, the 4th SA Armoured Car Regiment was attached to the 7th Armored Division during both Crusader and the Gazala battles. Desert Tracks by William E. Platz agrees with this and both sources indicate a strength of approximately 50 Marmon-Herringtons.
