The British Egypt Medal, 1882-89, was awarded to British, Egyptian, and Colonial units which served in the Egyptian Campaigns from 1882-89. The Nile 1884-85 clasp was awarded to British and Colonial units which served south of Assouan on or before March 7, 1885, and in the expedition to relieve General Gordon in Khartoum. Eight Victoria Crosses were awarded during the Egyptian Campaigns.
