Cap badge to the 79th Battalion CEF (Babin E.79, Charlton 79-2) by Hemsley but not maker marked. The 79th Manitoba Battalion was raised in Western Manitoba with mobilization headquarters at Brandon effective August 15th 1915. The Battalion sailed for England April 24th 1916 where it was absorbed into the 17th Reserve Battalion and used to reinforce units already serving in the field. Being fully depleted of all ranks the 79th was disbanded effective June 1st 1917 under General Order 82 of 1917.
