Shoulder belt plate mount. circa 1824-40.
An early period example a cast silver star loosely based on that of the Thistle with gilt mount. This being St. Edward’s crown over a strap, “Regiment”, in the centre supported on two bars the floreated numerals, “50”. Original fasteners adapted and now fitted with a crude pin fastener. VGC
The 50th Madras Native Infantry was disbanded 1861.
