1939-45 Star, Atlantic Star, Africa Star with clasp ‘North Africa 1942-43’, War Medal 1939-45, all unnamed as issued;
Royal Navy Long Service and Good Conduct, G.V.R. Type 2 (M. 16569 J. D. Humphrys E.R.A. 1. H.M.S. Queen Elizabeth.);

Chief Engine Room Artificer John Denholm Humphrys was born at Berwick-on-Tweed on 5 September 1892, he was a Blacksmith by Trade, resient of Gateshead and is confirmed on the Great War Medal and Naval L.S.G.C. rolls, the latter issued on 18 January 1931. He spent most of the first war serving on HMS Emperor of India and spent (3) years between the wars abpard HMS Queen Elizabeth as well as other postings, he was pensioned in 1938 and recalled for service in the second world war.
