Canadian Long Service Medal Group of Four for Service in the Korean War

Queens Korea, Canadian silver issue, United Nations Korea medal, both named “SB12329 H P MCINTEE”, Canadian Forces Decoration, “L SGT H P MCINTEE”, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal for Korea, unnamed as issued.

Howard Price (Howie) McIntee was born 26th September 1932 and lived in Niagar Falls, Ontario, he enlisted into the Lincoln & Welland Regiment in September 1949 (Reserves). Enlisting in  December 1951 he then served in the 3rd Battalion Royal Canadian Regiment from early 1953, 1st Canadian Guards until discharged. He served in Korea from 3rd March 1953 until 26th March 1954 (including a 7-day spell in detention in April 1953 and numerous service infractions). Canadian Forces Decoration awarded on 18th December 1963 and he was discharged in June 1966. Howard McIntee passed away on 20th June 1999 in Toronto at the age of 66. CD awarded as service number B-555980 to Royal Regiment of Canada.

3rd Bn RCR replaced 2nd Bn RCR in Korea in early 1953. Early in May the battalion withstood a strong enemy assault on its position about Hill 187. The attack was repulsed, but the engagement cost the Canadians heavy casualties – 26 killed, 27 wounded and seven taken prisoner.
