David Lloyd was born on 5th August 1883 at Cardigan, Wales and he attested for the Canadian Engineers at Montreal on 4th March 1918 giving his occupation as a "Rigger",  who was living at Roxbury, Massachusetts.  He served during the Great War on the Western Front. He died of wounds on 31 September 1918, (GSW, Fractured legs and head) whilst serving with the 7th Battalion Canadian Engineers and is buried in Auberchicourt British Cemetery, France. He was the son of Evan and Elizabeth Lloyd, of The Orchard, St. Dogmaels, Cardigan, Wales.

His gravestone inscription is "LET IT NOT BE IN VAIN THAT THOU HAST DIED".
