WW1 Memorial Cross to Faulds, 46th (Regina, SK) Battalion

Named: 472189 Pte. G. M. FAULDS

George Maitland Faulds was born in London Ontario, Dec. 27th, 1872. Son of Thomas and Sara E. Faulds of Caradoc, Middlesex Co., Ontario; husband of Mary Jane Faulds of North Battleford, Saskatchewan. He lived in North Battleford Saskatchewan with his wife and 3 kids and was a Farmer. He was part of the 22nd Saskatchewan Light Horse regiment before WWI. Enlisted in the 65th Battalion on 24 July 1915, age 43. transferred to 46th Battalion. George was part of the Somme offensive. On Sept 17, 1916 he was reputedly killed in action by a shell while carrying his friend back to safety. (vendor's info). Newspaper clippings appear on ancestry. He was buried in Ridge Wood Cemetery. The cross was issued to his widow, Mrs Mary J. Faulds.
