 WW1 Distinguished Conduct Medal to 19495 A.B.S.Mjr C.H. Hiscott 1/Can M.M.G. Bde (for a gallant reconnaisance on a motor-cycle at LE QUESNEL on 9th August, 1918.).

Clement Hiscott's DCM was announced in the London Gazette dated 30th October 1918 "For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. With his motor machine gun battery and attached cyclists he captured an enemy strong point that formed an important obstacle between ourselves and Allied troops on our flank. He reconnoitred the enemy positions under heavy fire and his conduct of the whole operation was marked by great personal gallantry and sound judgement and determination."

Original recommendation in the war diary can be read here : http://data2.collectionscanada.ca/e/e040/e000987959.jpg

With copied London Gazette and attestation papers, he was born in Twickenham 22/7/1893, enlisted in Canada 25/9/14 with former service in The Bucks Yeomanry.

1st page of attestation papers say Charles, 2nd page says Clement, a nominal roll of 4th Brigade HQ says Clement. (per Canadian Great War Project).

Very fine condition.
