Born 18th Feb. 1898, Enlisted aged 17 on 18 Jan. 1916 in the 163rd Battalion, Occupation Apprentice Boiler-Maker. 19/9/18 Rec'd 2 days Filed Punishment No. 1 for Drinking in an Estaminet which was "Out of Bounds". Promoted Lance Corporal 19/10/18, and subsequently wounded in the hand 7-8th Nov. 1918, possibly in the engagement for which he was decorated subsequently which appeared in the London Gazette 13th March 1919 and in The Canada Gazette on 20th June 1919.
MM was for The Hundred Days Offensive - approved in 3rd Div. Orders 5th October 1918. Wounded near Mons on the last full day of the war, November 10 1918.
