About very fine, court mounted for display.

With 3 copied pages of service record, Richard Wells was born in Alton, enlisted in 58th Foot 3/12/39 aged 18. Deserted 23 May '41 and rejoined 25 June '41. Tried by Court-Martial he had his service to date forfeited but this was later restored on 31 March 1852. He volunteered for the 10th Foot 1/4/42, was issued Sutlej Medal with and Punjab Medal with 2 clasps, with General Franks column at the advance and relief of Lucknow, at the relief of Arjinghun 15/4/58, operations against the rebels in Jugdespore jungles 9 May to 4 June 1858, discharged with Pension after completing 21 years service on 7/5/61. Intended place of residence was Hampshire.
