Queen’s South Africa Medal, 1899-1902 clasp, Cape Colony to Welsh Regiment (a Bad Boy)

Queen’s South Africa, 1899-1902, 2nd type reverse with ghosted dates, single clasp, Cape Colony

8293 Pte. H. Jones, Welsh Regiment

Toned, minor reverse edge bruise, very fine.

With copied research confirming the recipient as Corporal Harry Jones, born London, member of the 3rd Bn Northamptonshire Militia, including several mentions in the regimental defaulter’s book including convicted ny DCM of Striking his superior officer. He was also entitled to a (2) clasp K.S.A., which appears to have been returned to Woolwich in 1912 according to the medal roll ‘remarks’ column (also gives his Rank of Sergeant). Short Service Form has Regtl No. of 8294 corrcted from 8293 but Medal Roll gives 8293 as on the medal. Served in The 3rd Battalion Welsh Regiment.
