Hart’s list mentions his service with Rifle Brigade in India 1857-58, participation at Cawnpore, Lucknow, and Nawabgunge, with award of medal and clasp.
Colonel Cuthbert Ellison Edwardes was born on 16th January 1838 at Edmonthorpe, Melton, Leicestershire to Hon. William Edwardes, 3rd Baron Kensington and Laura Ellison. He was married to Lady Blanche Butler (daughter of The 2nd Marquess of Ormonde). Their son, Liut. Owen Edwardes was sadly killed on 1st July 1916, serving as a Subaltern in the King's Royal Rifle Corps. The Colonel died on 8th Sept. 1911 and was buried at All Saints Churchyard, Monkeokehampton, Devon.
