William Smith was b. 1879 at Cleckheaton, Yorkshire and was a Cotton Spinner by occupation and a member of the 3rd Battalion, KOYLI Militia when he attested at Bradford in 1899. He served 3 years and 184 days, Next of kin, Bridlington, Yorks.He received a Queen's Medal with (3) clasps for CC/OFS and Transvaal with the 2nd Battalion. After South Africa he transferred to the 1st Battalion and served in India.
