Andrew Thomas Clohessy was born on 7 Nov 1930 at Montreal. His father (Thomas Clohessy) died young so he left school early to support his mother (Teresa nee Coleman), he enlisted as a Driver in the RCASC May 1949 RF, joining the 1st Bn RCR on 27 Nov 1951 serving with them until 6 Apr 1953. He injured his leg in an accident in Korea and this led to his subsequent repatriation to Canada from Korea in Aril 1953 and eventual honourable discharge. He died on 12th March 1984.
