North West Canada Medal 1885, to 91st Winnipeg Light Infantry
Engraved on the edge: “PTE J.S. HALL 91st W. L. I.”
for service in the 91st (Winnipeg) Battalion Light Inf. (“Winnipeg Light Inf. Bn.”), confirmed on the medal roll as John Hall.
Attached to the Alberta Column in the campaign.

The Medal has the scarce "Saskatchewan" Clasp of which only 1,760 were awarded with the Medals, which is in good condition and reads "SASKATCHEWAN".
The obverse of the Medal depicts Queen Victoria facing leftwards with "VICTORIA REGINA ET IMPERATRIX" surrounding, with reverse reading "North West Canada 1885" with detailed Canadian Maple leaf.
Established by Canadian government 1885 for service in the Riel Rebellion and west of Port Arthur. Participants were Canadian Volunteers, NWMP, and fewer than 20 attached British officers. 1,760 medals awarded with Saskatchewan clasp for presence at Fish Creek, Batoche, Cut Knife, or Frenchman Butte.
