8-23, 23rd Reserve Regiment Officer's Enamelled Cap Badge
Unlisted example, a similar badge appears in Harper's "A Source of Pride"
The 23rd Battalion CEF was formed in Canada in October 1914. While in England, they were reorganized into the 23rd Reserve Battalion on Jan 1, 1917 when the Reserve Battalion system was created and was part of the Quebec Regiment. it was suggested in 1917 that the reserve battalions be uniquely badged. This policy was reversed within days, but the 23rd Reserve Bn acquired badges anyways. (Joe Harper "A Source of Pride").
