A Victorian Indian Army 4th Madras Pioneers Headdress Badge, fine example of a large gilt brass headdress badge in form of crown over ‘ASSAYE’ battle honour, laurel spray wreath with battle honours, lower scroll with ‘MADRAS PIONEERS’ and centre voided with crossed pioneer axes over elephant and ‘IV’.
Crudely replaced fittings to the reverse of the badge. Otherwise a good example, with a Gilt Officer's Collar badge with pin-back fitting and a shoulder title, the title missing one lug.
