Arthur was born at Hackney, Middlesex c. 1895 and lived at New Cross, S.E. London and was married to Emily. He joined up on 29th Oct 1915. His service file is online on ancestry and shows that he died of concussion whilst under a heavy bombardment on 9th May 1917.

Poignant correspondence in his service file online show that his widow made strenuous efforts to recover his personal belongings which appear to of been lost, though his Sergeant had taken possession of them.
